We are happy to have our friend Wayne as a performer at the "Spring Planting Festival". Wayne has an amazing voice and 1950's country-western style that makes him very popular when he performs internationally at major events in the USA, Australia and the United Kingdom. This yodeling country singer has released 19 albums. He has been a favorite of ours at "Baker Creek" ever since we discovered him several years ago. Adrienne Young Adrienne Young, the National Award Winning Folk Musician will speak & perform at the spring planting fest! Adrienne Young and her band, The Old Faithful, plays a heartfelt blend of folk, country, and bluegrass music that is deeply rooted in our agriculture and cultural heritage. She has played on numerous programs, including NPR and Emeril, and has won "Best Country Single of the Year." Her recent album was Grammy nominated. KC Compton K.C. Compton Leading Rural Publications Editor and Folk Musician will speak & perform at the spring planting fest! K.C. Compton is editor in chief of GRIT, Capper's and The Herb Companion magazines, published by Ogden Publications. She was formerly the managing editor of Mother Earth News. She is also a fantastic singer who sings in the band "Checkered Past," who will also be performing at the Spring Planting Festival. We thank K.C. Patti Moreno Patti Moreno is the host of the public television show "Farmers' Almanac TV." She is a contributor to Taunton's Fine Gardening magazine, Rodale's Organic Gardening magazine, Farmer's Almanac, and Green Profit magazine. She has just launched a line of unique products exclusively for garden centers. She is currently in development with "This Old House" on a new TV show, and her syndicated show "Gardening by Cuisine" will begin airing in major markets around the country in 2009. Merlyn Niedens An heirloom seed grower and seed saving expert, who has developed a number of superb open-pollinated varieties, some of which are among the most popular offered here at Baker Creek. Merlyn is a longtime friend, and always one of our most popular speakers. Merlyn will talk about seed saving and growing garlic. We thank Merlyn and his wife for all the work they have done to preserve our seed heritage and freely teach others!

Cole's Bluegrass The finest in traditional bluegrass! They do a mix of traditional and gospel bluegrass, and will include in every set a sample of their acapella style singing. Jim Veteto is coordinator of the Southern Seed Legacy project. He is an avid organic farmer, seed saver, writer, and holds a Masters Degree in Sustainable Development. Oscar H. Will III We are excited to have the greatgrandson of pioneer seedsmen. His family operated the Oscar H. Will seed company and nursery, founded by his great-grandfather in the early 1880s. Hank Will is currently the editor of GRIT magazine, a rural lifestyle magazine that is a favorite here at Baker Creek, and has worked with market gardening, poultry and livestock much of his life. Enjoy Our Historic Music Fest!

Last year's Festival attracted 50 musicians from many different states! Our festival has become a premier event for historic culture and music. You're going to love the Western, Folk, Country, Gospel, Americana, Irish, and Bluegrass music. At this festival the music abounds everywhere with 2-3 stages playing most of both days. Enjoy some of Branson, Missouri's finest talent, and you are invited to bring your traditional instruments and join the fun!
National Folk Music Contest (Sunday) Free for any and all old-fashioned musicians, solo acts or groups. Bring your instrument or voice and win big prizes! Judging will be done by the audience. (Some restrictions apply; not open to our contracted musicians)

Best Music Act- $600 Cash Prize!
2nd Best Act $200 Cash

Costume Contest each day!
$50 Gift Certificate to best period dressed.

Info About The Fest

The Festival is held at our village and farm, near Mansfield, MO. Come to Mansfield and follow signs. We offer free tent and RV camping; no need to register. There are also hotels in the local area. Food is available at the festival.
Admission: $5.00 per person, pay at the event. Children 16 and under are free. All pets over 20 lbs must be pre-approved. No weapons.
Vendors are welcome! Bring your products to some of the largest heritage garden events that attract writers, farmers and hobby gardeners. Please call to register and make sure you have a space.
Vendor Space: $30-$60 - Call 417-924-8917 (Spaces are limited) Space is free to non-profits & those providing historic demonstrations.
